Vietnam arrivals fall Halong BayVisitor arrivals to Vietnam have fallen again in June – the second consecutive monthly drop. According to the preliminary figures for June, released today by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), the country recorded 417,400 visitor arrivals this month – 6.6% fewer than the same month last year. In May, the country’s arrivals fell 4.4%.This month’s figures were severely impacted by a major 31.7% drop in visitors from Vietnam’s largest source market, China. Arrivals from South Korea and Japan however, both continued their strong growth, rising 19.1% and 17.4% respectively. Other Asian markets also contributed to Vietnam’s figures, with arrivals from Malaysia (+27.0%) and Thailand (+49.0%) posting the strongest growth of all major source markets.Despite the recent dip however, Vietnam’s visitor arrivals remain on track to exceed last year’s record 6.01 million. In the first six months of 2012 the country has recorded 3.36m arrivals – up 13.9% year-on-year.
