GHM has unveiled plans for a new Chedi luxury hotel in Hokkaido.

The Chedi Tomakomai is being developed on more than 1,000 hectares of land in the forests of northern Japan. When it opens in 2015 it will include 60 rooms and 40 private villas, plus a large spa including open-air hot springs, a health club, indoor and outdoor pools, and a library, lounge, wine cellar and a 30-table gourmet restaurant. Each 60-70m² room will have a built-in fireplace.

“Urban dwellers will be enchanted by the serenity and bountiful natural beauty of this property,” said Clement Koh, GHM’s vice president of sales & marketing. “Our vision is a comfortable and exclusive retreat where the recharging takes place in a truly stunning wilderness.”

The Chedi Tomakomai’s designers plan to map three excursion courses for eco-tours and forest trails, while the property will also be located in close proximity to 16 golf courses.

The Chedi Tomakomai will become GHM’s first property in Japan.
