Fairmont to debut in Changsha ChangshaFairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open a new hotel and conference centre in Changsha, the capital of China’s Hunan province.Scheduled to open in 2016, Fairmont Changsha will feature 350 rooms, plus several F&B outlets, a spa, fitness centre and swimming pool. It will be located adjacent to the new 40,000m² conference centre, which will also be managed by Fairmont. Both developments will be located in Taksin City – a new development zone including 14 office towers, shopping centres, 900-metre-long pedestrian areas, an ice-skating rink, IMAX cinema, arts centre, theatre, high-end residential developments and an international school. “Changsha will be home to Fairmont’s ninth hotel in the Asia Pacific region as we continue to expand in this important part of the world,” said Fairmont’s president, Jennifer Fox. “The city’s energetic growth is fuelled by entertainment, finance, culture, construction and manufacturing and other industries, ensuring Changsha’s position as one of the most dynamic economic engine in central China.”Fairmont Changsha marks the latest stage in the company’s Chinese expansion, which currently includes properties in Beijing, Shanghai and Kunshan, and will also see the development of new hotels in Chengdu, Nanjing and Taiyuan.
