MAS receives third A380
Malaysia Airlines’ (MAS) third Airbus A380 aircraft touched down at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this morning (Thursday 15 November 2012).
The aircraft, which arrived direct from Airbus’ delivery centre in Toulouse, will now undergo final preparations before starting commercial operations. The national carrier will also receive its fourth A380 by end of this week.
MAS will use these two 494-seat aircraft to commence daytime flights from KL to London Heathrow on 24 November 2012. Flights will depart KLIA at 1045 daily and arrive at 1615 the same day. The return flight will leave Heathrow at 2200, arriving back into KLIA at 1820 the next day.
This new daytime service will complement MAS’ current daily A380 night service to the UK capital. Following the introduction of the double daily A380 services, MAS will cease operating its Boeing 747-400 flights on the route.
MAS will receive its remaining two A380s by the first quarter of 2013.
