Anantara has opened a new luxury resort in southern China’s Yunnan province.
Anantara Xishuangbanna Resort & Spa is located in a rural setting on the Luoso River, an hour’s drive from Xishuangbanna Gasa International Airport.
The resort comprises 80 rooms and 23 one-, two- and three-bedroom pool villas, plus an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, business centre, a large function room, kids’ club and an Anantara Spa with eight treatment rooms. F&B options include an all-day restaurant, Indochinese restaurant, lobby lounge, and poolside bar, while Anantara’s ‘Dining by Design’ concept also enables guests to dine on a private table with personal butler.
Xishuangbanna, which lies north of the Golden Triangle that connects Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, is a mountainous area of Yunnan province, home to various local ethnic hill tribes. Activities in the area include hiking, bird and wildlife spotting, and boat trips along the Luosuo River.
The area is also home to one of the largest tropical gardens in the world, the 900-hectare Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, which includes 35 different garden habitats with more than 10,000 species of tropical plants.
Anantara Xishuangbanna Resort & Spa becomes the second Anantara in China, following the Anantara Sanya Resort & Spa, which opened late last year.
