Australia’s largest supplier of cruise packages has announced that it is to open a UK office and begin operating under the URL cruising.co.uk.
The brand, which was launched in 2000, distributes cruises through 230 independent travel agents in what has become one of the fastest growing cruising regions in the world. The firm will be opening its new office in Birmingham with former Royal Caribbean head of sales Mark Walter heading the operation. Cruiseco is currently aiming for a November launch.
“Cruiseco is a committed advocate of street front ‘bricks and mortar’ agencies who offer the cruise lines exceptional and alternative distribution when brought together in a cohesive marketing group,” said Cruiseco CEO and founder Steve Lloyd. “We offer both agents and cruise lines a support package that can significantly increase their cruise sales. Our ABTA and ATOL applications are well advanced, commercial terms have been agreed with a good base of cruise lines and we’ve paid a significant sum for cruising.co.uk to sit alongside the .com.au site.”
Walter, who will be heading the UK operation commented: “Cruiseco will bring a completely fresh approach to the UK cruise market by re-invigorating independent agents and offer cruise line partners new routes of distribution. It seemed appropriate to make these announcements on the eve of the ACE Columbus Day Convention being held in Birmingham. We are highly committed to our UK plan and I welcome the opportunity to talk with trade partners who share our vision and want to become part of something unique”.
A small team will be recruited in the coming months to support the business offering reservations, operations, sales and marketing functions.
