The Maldives will continue to be a top-selling destination for luxury travellers, Kuoni has revealed.
In its Travel Trends report for 2013, the company said the Indian Ocean islands are its top destination for bookings in the year, followed by Thailand, Sri Lanka, the USA and UAE.
Its trends for the year are similar to 2012 with Mauritius, Malaysia, Barbados, Singapore and St Lucia also amongst popular destinations.
While Kuoni recognised that more customers want experiences on holidays it also said there was a trend for more all-inclusive breaks. It has predicted that sites such as TripAdvisor will continue to drive consumer choices; luxury customers will look for more bespoke holidays and high-end hotels will look to cater for families.
In addition it is expected that more women group bookings are to come through and travellers will continue to become more environmentally aware of their holiday.
It said television and celebrities will carry on influencing long-haul holiday decisions.
