One of the most popular events on the professional poker calendar will be going back to its roots next year. The 2018 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will be in full swing again in its original home of the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas from January 6-14. In addition to returning the event to its original name (in 2017, the event was renamed the PokerStars Championship Bahamas), the brand will also be updating some of the formats and adding in a wealth of exciting promotions and subevents.
Eric Hollreiser, Director of Corporate Communications for the global poker platform, recently discussed how the brand is “restoring the name and reinvigorating the event to ensure it remains a premier poker festival.” The company is also committed to drawing in the very best players from around the world with increased promotions and exciting qualifying packages.
Having undertaken a substantial player feedback process following 2017’s event, the organizers of the Caribbean Adventure are certainly leaving no room for dissatisfaction this time around. One of the biggest changes that will take place in 2018 is a reduction in the number of tournaments and activities scheduled throughout the event. This year, over 90 events were scheduled in the eight-day timeframe, but in 2018, there will be 30 events with some featuring longer levels of at least 40 minutes, which means longer play times for participants.
The highlight of the schedule is the $10,300 Main Event, which will take place over six days. This is expected to be a “deep-stacked” tournament in which players will be receiving 30,000 chips and blinds will increase regularly during each day. Interested players can qualify online via satellite and subsatellites for the exclusive $14, 855 package in the tournament, which includes entry to the Main Event, a $1,000 cash folio, luxury hotel accommodations at the Paradise Island Resort and lots more. Other big buy-in tournaments include the return of the $100,000 Super High Roller, taking place from January 6-8, and the $50,000 High Roller, which is set for a later date. Poker enthusiasts are also welcome at the event and there will be plenty of low, buy-in tournaments with qualifiers starting at $160.
It certainly looks like it will be an exciting schedule and is sure to draw in some top poker pros and big-name celebrities. Funnyman Kevin Hart will be making an appearance again in 2018, following his exciting attempt to win the $100,000 Super High Roller in 2017. The superstar comedian has been a big supporter of PokerStars events this year and is currently engaging the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, in a series of challenges that are leading up to the 2018 Caribbean Adventure.
