Qatar Airways has announced that its Business Class seat, Qsuite, will make its China debut on flights to Shanghai from 15 May 2018. Patented by Qatar Airways, Qsuite features the industry’s first-ever double bed available in Business Class and private cabins for up to four people with privacy panels that stow away, allowing passengers in adjoining seats to create their own private room.
Adjustable panels and movable TV monitors on the centre four seats allow colleagues, friends or families travelling together to transform their space into a private suite, allowing them to work, dine and socialise together.
The QSuite product was initially launched in March 2017 on the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for the Doha to London Heathrow route and the airline has been retrofitting the product across the remaining fleet progressively ever since.
Qatar Airways group chief executive, His Excellency Akbar Al Baker, said: “Shanghai was Qatar Airways’ first gateway to China in October 2003. It is therefore fitting that we have chosen it to introduce our award-winning Qsuite product on flights to China, further demonstrating the strength of our commitment to the Chinese market.
“With Qsuite, we have redefined industry norms and have truly revolutionised Business Class travel by offering passengers a First Class experience in a Business Class cabin, bringing unparalleled inflight comfort, luxury and style to our discerning customers.”
Qatar Airways currently has 31 weekly flights to six mainland China gateways: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chongqing and Chengdu. The airline operates a fleet of more than 200 aircraft flying to destinations across six continents.
The daily outbound service, QR 0870, leaves Doha Hamad Internatioanl Airport at 02:25 on a Boeing 777-300ER and arrives in Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport at 16:20. The return flight, QR 0871, leaves Shanghai at 23:50 and arrives back in Doha at 05:00 the next day (all times local) also on Boeing 777-300ER.
