SIA to codeshare with Virgin America
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has signed a new codeshare agreement with Virgin America.
Following the recent sale of its 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic to US-based Delta Air Lines, SIA has agreed to partner California-based Virgin America on several domestic services. SIA will place its ‘SQ’ code on Virgin America’s flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Philadelphia, Portland, San Diego, Seattle and Washington DC. These will connect to SIA’s existing flights to the two Californian hubs direct from Singapore.
“We are pleased to announce this partnership with Virgin America which extends our network even further within the United States. The United States is an important market for Singapore Airlines and through this partnership we can offer our customers more travel options to more destinations,” said SIA’s Acting Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, Chin Yau Seng.
Tickets for the codeshare flights are now open for sale, for travel from 19 December 2012.
