World’s first Sesame Street ride at Universal Studios Singapore
A new family ride will open at Universal Studios Singapore, based on the world’s longest-running children’s TV show, Sesame Street.
Launching on 1 March 2013, the new ‘Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase’ indoor ride will be the world’s first Sesame Street-themed ride. It will feature 12 of the show’s characters, including the popular Elmo, plus three brand new characters, in a science-fiction-inspired indoor ride with a range of special effects.
The new ride follows the introduction of Sesame Street-themed street shows at Universal Studios Singapore last year, and the launch will be marked by a Sesame Street Carnival. Taking place from 1-3 March 2013, the theme park’s New York Street will be dedicated to the TV show, with kids offered the chance to meet Sesame Street characters.
“The launch of the Sesame Street shows at Universal Studios Singapore last year was a tremendous success,” said Dennis Gilbert, senior vice president of attractions at Resorts World Sentosa – the integrated resort that houses Universal Studios Singapore. “Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar and other loveable characters of Sesame Street have captivated the hearts and minds of our guests, testament to their popularity. We look forward to continuing the Sesame Street experience with the launch of this new ride, packing in even more fun and excitement for the whole family visiting the park.”
Completing the range of Sesame Street attractions, Universal Studios Singapore is also adding a new Sesame Street character breakfast at Loui’s NY Pizza Parlor. This gives kids the chance to have breakfast with Sesame Street characters, and to ride on the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase before the park opens.
