Warner Bros. has announced that it will open a Harry Potter based attraction at its Hertfordshire based studios next spring. Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter will offer tourists the chance to walk around sets, see props and take a behind-the-scenes look at the film franchise. It will include the original set for the Great Hall, which has stood at the studios since 2000. Speaking at the launch last night, Dan Dark, senior vice president and managing director of Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, said the tour would showcase ‘the British artistry, technology and talent’ behind the films. “While the Harry Potter film franchise reaches its highly anticipated conclusion this summer, its incredible filmmaking story and its relationship with Leavesden is set to live on,” he said. He added that the studio expected 5,000 people to visit the back-lot tour every day. As a result, tickets for the attraction will only be sold through tour operators and its website and there will be no on-site ticket sales. It is unknown how much admission will cost and the exact opening date, but Warner Bros. said it will be ‘comparable’ to other London’ attractions. A 17 minute train ride from Euston and 10 minute bus ride will get tourists from central London to the studios. The news comes after the success of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, plus the franchise’s recognition at BAFTA. The British film industry has also received press coverage following its budget cut and a string of award wins. Warner Bros. has envisaged that further Leavesden-filmed productions could be used to launch more tours in the future, as it is home to a range of big budget films The Dark Knight, Inception and Sherlock Holmes.
