15 dead as cyclone lashes Bengal

Strong winds and heavy rains from Cyclone Aila lashed eastern India and Bangladesh on Monday, killing at least 15 people leaving villages cut off by floodwater. According to a report in The Times of India, five people were killed in Kolkata as trees were uprooted and property damaged.
Meanwhile flights were grounded at Kolkata airport due to the treacherous conditions. By the end of Monday, 38 domestic and four international flights had been cancelled, while 15 incoming flights were diverted to neighbouring airports
