Fire fighters have rescued 173 tourists stranded in a valley in a tourist park in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, after they ignored warnings to embark on a canoeing trip. According to a Chongqing Times report, the group was warned not to set out on the six-hour trip as it was past 3pm, and they were unlikely to make it back before nightfall.
“There were stranded tourists all along the river screaming for help,” a fire fighter told the newspaper.
