20 die to Bangkok clashes

Bangkok’s long-running anti-government protests turned violent on Saturday night, when the army moved in the disperse demonstrators. Eighteen people are thought to have died, including a Japanese journalist. There were reports of live rounds being fired by both sides. Thailand’s Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, later appeared on TV to express his regret for the loss of life.
