Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) recently announced the opening of a transfer passenger screening facility at Terminal 3 as part of its continued Capacity Enhancement Program (CEP).
The program is gradually increasing passenger handling capability at ADIA reaching an increase in throughput potential of the airport from current 16 million to over 18 m passengers per annum. The new facility includes 16 new X-ray machines.
Ahmad Al Haddabi, chief operations officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “The capacity enhancement program at our existing Terminals 1 and 3 is progressing well. Last year, we witnessed record growth figures for the airport, with more than 16.5 m passengers using our facilities.”
Abu Dhabi International Airport is now able to channel transfer traffic into two separate screening facilities, which will drastically reduce congestion at these facilities during peak traffic times.
