P&O Cruises has unveiled details of its “biggest ever” year of cruising in Australia, with a five-ship fleet paving the way for new cruises from Cairns and Singapore and the line’s largest presence to-date in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Auckland.
The company’s 2015-16 programme will offer 250 cruises, including a series of new itineraries and inaugural port visits to destinations including Honiara, Jakarta and Koh Chang.
The season will kick off on 25 November 2015, when the new Pacific Eden and Pacific Aria ships join the existing fleet of Pacific Dawn, Pacific Jewel and Pacific Pearl in Sydney Harbour for a five-ship display.
“With five ships in our fleet we can now meet the growing demand for cruise holidays from around Australia, with extended seasons from existing homeports and the addition of new homeports such as Cairns,” said Ann Sherry, CEO of P&O Cruises. “Plus more ships means we can visit some wonderful new towns around Australia and the Pacific, on a fantastic range of itineraries which are looking more attractive than ever.”
The new programme will see Pacific Eden sail from Fremantle, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Cairns and Singapore, while Pacific Aria will be based in Sydney and Brisbane. Pacific Jewel will sail from Sydney and Melbourne, Pacific Dawn from Brisbane and Pacific Pearl from Sydney and Auckland.
New itineraries include the Pacific Eden’s round-trip cruises from Cairns to Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, plus an Indonesian cruise with maiden calls to Jakarta, Probolinggo and Makassar.
Pacific Eden will also operate a Singapore season from July 2016 featuring five cruises to destinations in Southeast Asia, with maiden calls to Krabi, Palau Weh, Koh Chang and Sihanoukville, while Pacific Aria will operate a new 18-night cruise to Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.
P&O Cruises’ longest ever Auckland season will feature 18 round-trip cruises from February to June 2016, including a new 15-night cruise to Fiji, Tonga and the Cook Islands and a new 10-night itinerary circumnavigating New Zealand.
