The National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) reports that total number of Khareef Salalah visitors increased to 423,662 visitors when compared with 421,835 visitors during 2013, reflecting an increase of 0.4%. The statistics revealed that Omanis represented 76.1% of the total visitor numbers, while other GCC citizens represent 16.1% of the total visitor count.
Breaking down the visitor figures by geographic origin, the NCSI statistics shows that the total number of GCC visitors (including Omanis) increased over the stated period this year by 0.3% standing at 390,592 visitors, compared with 389,360 visitors over the same period in 2013. Meanwhile, the total number of visitors from other Arab non-GCC countries recorded an increase of 57.6%, standing at 7,410 visitors compared with 4,702 visitors recorded over the same period last year. On the other hand, the total number of visitors from Asian countries decreased by 10% from 25,255 visitors in 2013 to 22,729 visitors this year.
However, the total number of Khareef Salalah 2014 visitors from European countries increased by 4.7% recording 1,859 visitors in 2014, compared with 1,775 visitors last year. The total number of visitors from American Continents increased by 31.6%, recording 616 visitors this year, compared with 468 visitors in 2013, while the total number of visitors from African countries decreased by 18.3% standing at 125 visitors in 2014 compared with 153 visitors recorded over the same period in 2013. The total number of visitors from Oceania increased by 16.5% standing at 141 visitors compared with 121 visitors over the same period last year.
The NCSI statistics shows that 119,165 visitors flew to Salalah, comprised of 102,942 via domestic flights and 16,223 via international flights, while the total number of visitors who came via ground routes stood at 304,497 visitors.
