Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has unveiled plans to strengthen its presence in India with a focus on second and third tier cities in the south and west of the country.
There are currently 117 Carlson Rezidor hotels either operating or under development across 45 cities in India, including 14 state capitals. But under the company’s latest plans, this will increase to 170 hotels within the next five years, including properties in every state capital.
“Having earned our position as the international leader in India’s hospitality industry, we will further extend our brands and geographic presence,” said Raj Rana, Carlson Rezidor’s CEO for South Asia.
“Our team is stronger than ever before and we are positioned to seize the growth opportunities. We intend to have a hotel in every major city in India with landmark hotels in every state capital,” he added.
In 2014 and the first quarter of 2015, Carlson Rezidor opened 10 and signed six new hotels in India, including the new Radisson Goa Candolim. For the remainder of 2015, the company expects to open eight or nine hotels and sign between 12 and 15 new properties.
Carlson Rezidor said this expansion would include the introduction of its two new hotel brands, Radisson Red and Quorvus Collection. The company already operates its Radisson Blu, Radisson, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson and Country Inns & Suites brands in India.
