More than 500 amateur astronomers from overseas have booked hotels in Haiyan county in east China’s Zhejiang province, to see a total solar eclipse later this month. Xinhua reported Zhu Jin, Chief of the Beijing Planetarium, as saying that stargazers from the US, Denmark, Germany among other countries, have chosen the county because it will be the best spot on Earth to see the 22 July eclipse.
Officials in Haiyan, which lies at the highest point on the coast of Hangzhou Bay, have set up several observing posts to cater for the guests.
