While most holidaymakers are currently reluctant to book holidays through their phone, one Saudi Arabian-based family is happy to make US$500,000 private jet arrangements in the palm of their hands.
A private jet booking worth half a million US dollars has been purchased through PrivateFly’s iPhone app, covering various points in Europe and knocking up 6, 192 nautical miles.
The company’s CEO and co-founder Adam Twidell is naturally delighted the booking has “proved industry experts wrong”. He added 6% of its sales now coming from its app.
“The $500,000 BBJ flight was a particularly significant milestone because it proves that confidence in app technology has soared to the extent that such a significant, luxury purchase is being made this way,” he said.
“We have also booked a number of flights from enquiries directly generated by our social media channels, including a flight worth over £440,000 last month from a Twitter follower. Expertise and personalised VIP service will continue to be paramount in this industry, but that’s not to say it can’t be delivered by a combination of an expert team and bespoke technology,” Twidell added.
The company is now investing more into its app which will be announced later this year.
