The Chedi Muscat is set to open its new state-of-the-art, 2,500-square-metre spa and fitness facility next week. The Spa at The Chedi Muscat will be the largest facility of its kind in the capital port city, boasting the longest outdoor pool in the Sultanate of Oman. As a wellness facility with a starring role in the resort, the opening also marks a first for the resort’s operators, Singapore-based GHM (General Hotel Management).”Though The Chedi Muscat was not without a spa before, this entirely new, purpose-built facility is so much more ambitious and expansive that we have to talk about the facility as something entirely new,” said general manager York Brandes. “This isn’t so much a successor to our former spa as a complete redefinition of the spa, health and fitness experience at The Chedi.”Following a major renovation, the resort’s wellness amenities have been re-imagined to feature The Long Pool, a 103-metre outdoor swimming pool; a 400-square-metre health club; eight new private spa treatment rooms; separate men’s and women’s steam and sauna areas; and a relaxation lounge, in addition to The Serai Pool, The Chedi Pool and two floodlit tennis courts.Fitness enthusiasts will find the health club stocked with 30 pieces of top-range Technogym equipment from the Visio Web line in addition to Power Plates, a Kinesis Wall and a Pilates Corner. Among the services offered by the health club will be high- and low-impact group exercise classes, as well as personal trainers. While The Spa is expecting steady traffic from its in-house guests, the hotel also plans to release a limited number of memberships. The exclusive memberships will comprise access to all three of the hotel’s pools, its private beach as well steam and sauna facilities. Membership will also include complimentary laundry service, spa treatments and sessions with a personal trainer as well as discounts on food and beverage throughout the hotel. Next to unlimited access to the new fitness facility, the most sought-after membership privilege will likely be the generous 30-percent discount on best available rates at GHM properties worldwide. With 13 self-contained rooms and suites, The Spa has overhauled its product menu in favour of high-end organic brands, such as SpaRitual, REN, VOYA, ila, Abahna and Naturelle D’Orient. Its therapies draw from a range of wellness traditions, including Japanese, Tibetan, Balinese, Thai, Hawaiian and Ayurvedic. The resort has dedicated a total of 38 staff, including four expert fitness instructors, to handle service in the new facility. The former spa had a team of 14.Relaxation rituals will feature rejuvenating natural ingredients such as Himalayan cedar, Morrocan rhassoul mud, rosehip seeds, grapefruit and seaweed. The Spa will also offer facials for men, elaborate baths and a full range of beauty treatments.
