Thai Airways International (THAI) has signed a deal that will give it access to the Abacus Direct Connect Availability (DCA). With Abacus DCA, THAI’s own central reservation system will be connected directly to the GDS, enabling Abacus subscribers to receive real-time flight information from THAI’s own reservation system.
Simultaneously, THAI will be able to exercise point of sale (POS) quota allocation and control the type of queries received from the Abacus system, giving them the flexibility over their flight inventory. Flight data can also be integrated with THAI’s origin and destination revenue management system to enhance their inventory display in preferred markets and for preferred customers.
“We are privileged to be selected as the first GDS to have seamless access to Thai Airways’ inventory,” said Ho Hoong Mau, Division Head of Airline Distribution of Abacus International. “Abacus continuously strives to be the revenue partner for airlines and to offer the most effective channel for airlines such as Thai Airways to reach out to their customers. Through the Abacus DCA service, we will ensure that Thai Airways optimise its revenue generation to gain maximum yields and reach throughout the Asia Pacific region.”
“Joining forces with Abacus is only the first step in our goals of further expansion regionally,” said Chumnan Chiengkul, THAI’s Manager of Passenger Inventory. “We are confident that Abacus’ extensive network of travel agents across Asia will allow us to provide more services to more agents and passengers. We strive to continuously expand our reach across Asia Pacific to build a high yield business, and are excited to work together with Abacus in achieving this goal.”
“By adopting Abacus seamless access, Thai Airways can save time and money because they do not need to be constantly updating their GDS databases with automatic synchronisation of the DCA system. Thai Airways can also rest assured that the information between their website and the reservation counter is consistent. This connectivity paves the way for Thai Airways to manage yield effectively through other revenue management functionalities like Abacus Married Segments and Abacus Journey Data that allow the airline to optimise revenue and reduce seat wastage by driving higher total trip revenue and referencing the complete itinerary journey data,” added Ho.
