In a recent development, the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has expressed its intent to boost MICE numbers from Germany.
This strategy is being given a boost through participation in Germany’s IMEX Frankfurt 2016.
The show runs from 19-21 April 2016 and is expected to draw thousands of exhibitors and key decision-makers from around the world. Led by Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, the delegation will comprise a 20-strong portfolio of products, including Etihad Airways, hotels, destination management companies, resorts, attractions and tour operators.
TCA Abu Dhabi expects the emirate’s MICE sector will play a crucial role in Abu Dhabi’s overall economic expansion aligned to Abu Dhabi Government’s 2030 Economic Vision.
Mubarak Al Shamisi, director of Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, a division of TCA Abu Dhabi, said: “The business tourism and meetings facilities in Abu Dhabi mean the emirate has every aspect covered when hosting large-scale international conventions and association events. There are now 169 hotels and hotel apartments across the emirate offering more than 29,000 rooms at highly competitive prices. The country represents our sixth largest provider of overseas visitors, rising seven per cent last year on the previous year.”
