Abu Dhabi has agreed to become the Official Destination Partner of Manchester City Football Club (MCFC). Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and MCFC have signed a deal which will see the brand appear on the perimeter boards of club’s home ground and become the sole title sponsor of all pre-season tours. ADTA also has exclusive naming rights to the club’s Carrington training ground. “The rationale of broadening our destination awareness outreach is behind the move,” explained ADTA Deputy Director General Ahmed Hussein. “In this case, Abu Dhabi’s name will touch a TV viewership of over two billion”. The deal will run until the end of the 2013 Premier League season. MCFC Chief Executive Garry Cook said the club will be holding a series of events in Abu Dhabi following the recently successful ‘Our Country v Our City’ trip, when players spent a week in the Gulf region. ADTA is Manchester City’s fifth global partner and joins Etihad Airways, Umbro, Etisalat and Ferrostaal.
