Accor has held its first ever ‘Manchise Forum’ for its budget hotel brand, ibis. The event, held in Pullman Shanghai Skyway Shanghai, was intended to bring the brand into contact with developers and franchisees in the country.
The ‘manchise’ model is a new initiative developed by Accor specially for the China market. Under the model, the hotel owner will receive a range of services from ibis through a 10-year agreement which will help guarantee the smooth process of hotel running, from property construction to daily operations.
An ISO 9001 Certification programme will also be implemented to ensure the quality of every ibis hotel, including the equipment, staff, services and procedures.
Local partners will also be able to benefit from Accor’s global distribution network and customer base. Each ibis hotel will be directly linked to TARS, an international distribution system offering global websites, nine call centres as well as GDS/IDS connections. In China, the ibis distribution system mainly consists of a localised website – ibis.cn – and a toll-free phone service.
Since May 2010, Accor has already opened eight ibis manchise hotels in China with another 11 hotels secured in the pipeline, most in strategic downtown locations in gateway cities like Beijing and Shanghai. The Manchise Forum saw ibis sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shenzhen Guoji Baoli Investment Development Co Ltd, for six ibis and one Pullman hotel.
