Accor Middle East commenced its annual Middle East Road Show. The event provided an opportunity to network with customers and share progress made over the past year. This also comes in light of the Group’s significant 2013 achievements, which has seen it open 170 hotels with 23,000 rooms, corresponding to one hotel opening every two days.
As per research, the region is experiencing a period of strong growth with current estimates of more than US$3 trillion being pumped directly into leisure and tourism. By 2020, there will be airport capacity for an extra 300 million passengers, more than 200 new hotels and 100,000 additional rooms. Visitor numbers are expected to reach 150 m, with Expo 2020 accounting to over 25 m visitors in the six months between October 2020 and April 2021.
Managing director of Accor Middle East Christophe Landais said: “These statistics support Accor’s growth strategy in the Middle East where we have 30 hotels in the pipeline over the next three years. The new opening for this year is Novotel Fujairah and will see Accor introduction in the Northern Emirates, followed by the launch of ‘Adagio’. The first apartments-hotel, Adagio Al Bustan, will open in the first quarter.”
The roadshow was well attended by hoteliers from Bahrain, Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, KSA, Morocco, Netherland, Oman, Switzerland, Thailand, UAE and USA. It was held in Jeddah, Riyadh, and for the first time in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The workshop involved a series of industry forums and business meetings.
