For the past five years, Accor employees have geared up on 22 April to celebrate Earth Day, along with 500 million other people around the world. For the event – known as Earth Guest day at Accor – team-based initiatives are carried out simultaneously in favor of local development, health and environment in 90 countries where the Group operates. As part of Earth Guest Day 2011, employees of Accor’s Dubai Regional Office together with Accor hotels in the UAE teamed up to plant trees at New Arab Unity School in Dubai and National Charity School (Boys’ campus) in Sharjah. Christophe Landais, managing director of Accor Middle East, said: “We are delighted to contribute to Earth Guest Day 2011 and hope that the two schools will enjoy the trees for many years to come. We are proud of the commitment of our associates who with their actions have made this project a reality with a shared goal of preserving the planet for our children and future generations.”The Earth Guest program focuses on protecting the planet and acting in favour of people. The program includes initiatives to manage energy consumption, conserve water, produce less waste, contribute to local development and promote sustainable food sources and balanced diets.
