Accor records solid growth
European hospitality giant Accor has recorded a 5.2% revenue rise in the first half of 2008. Accor’s revenue totalled almost EUR3.8 billion (US$5.9 billion) for the first six months of 2008.Despite this figure actually showing a 6.2% decline in actual reported revenue,it swung to a 5.2% increase in like-for-like terms, considering factors such as exchange rates. Accor’s up and midscale brands (Sofitel, Pullman,Novotel, Mercure and Suitehotel) gave a particularly strong showing with a revenuerise of 6.2%, like-for-like. However overall results were dragged down by the group’s economy hotels in the US(Motel 6 and Studio 6), which declined 0.4%.
