US rock band Aerosmith has cancelled its two gigs in Asia.
The group, which is fronted by former American Idol judge Steven Tyler, was due to play in Shanghai on 21 August and Kaohsiung three days later. But in an announcement on the band’s official website, Aerosmith said its “local promoter [was] unable to meet contractual obligations”.
“We are extremely upset to have disappointed our dedicated fans,” said Tyler. “They have welcomed us into their country and due to uncontrollable circumstances we will not be able to perform. We were so excited to share our music with them and look forward to one day returning and giving them the show they deserve.”
The Aero Force One world tour will now continue to Latin American, where the band will play dates in several countries including Venezuela, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.
