Air Arabia, the UAE’s first low-cost carrier, has appointed Paul Simmons as its new chief commercial officer, group CEO Adel Ali said in a statement released tonight (Sunday 2 October).
The appointment comes as the Air Arabia Group continues to forge ahead with its expansion, which Ali said required “better management support”.
“Paul will have the overall group commercial responsibility, which includes Sales, Marketing, ebusiness, Air Arabia holidays, revenue management and cargo sales. PR will continue reporting to myself,” said Ali in the statement.
“Paul brings with him over 25 years of experience in FMCG, hospitality management and airline knowledge. To name just a few, he was CCO of Malaysia Airlines until recently, spent a combined nine years in the LCC environment (two years as CCO with Flybe and seven years as director of UK market for easyJet).
“While at present, our business continues to do well, we have to prepare for the future. Economic and political challenges are bringing changes to all businesses, particularly in the airline industry and it is important that we are fully geared up at all levels to protect our future. I am confident that with the existing management team and today’s additional enhancement it will put us ahead to meet the challenges of the future.
