Air China is set to launch a new Beijing-Mumbai service from September. Incredibly, the move would mark the first service between the two cities. Mumbai is currently only linked with China via Air India’s direct services to Shanghai. The new Air China service will use a two-class Airbus A319 aircraft, making a brief stop in Chengdu. Air China also operates flights to Bengaluru.
The Beijing-based airline has also penned a codeshare deal with UK-based carrier, bmi, which will see its ‘CA’ code with be placed on bmi’s flights from London to Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Dublin, Belfast and Manchester. Air China offers daily Beijing-London services. Both airlines are members of the Star Alliance.
