Air China, the country’s second-largest carrier, expects to return to profit this year as government stimulus measures help revive domestic air travel. According to a Bloomberg report, the Beijing-based carrier last year slumped to the first loss since its 2004 listing after making wrong-way bets on fuel prices. This year however, Chinese airlines have boosted passenger numbers 14% helped by the abolition of fuel surcharges and economic stimulus packages
“I’m confident that we will report a profit,” Air China’s Chairman, Kong Dong, was quoted saying, without projecting any figures.
