Air China will welcome its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on 5 May 2016.
The arrival of the new B787-9 aircraft will make the Beijing-based airline the first in China to operate the larger version of the Dreamliner.
Air China has ordered a total of 15 B787-9s, most of which will be operated on long-haul flights from Beijing to destinations in Oceania, North America and Europe.
The first route to be operated using the new twin-aisle aircraft will be Beijing-Auckland on 1 July. The airline then plans to deploy its future B787-9s on routes to San Francisco, New York (Newark), Madrid, Sao Paulo, Montreal and Havana.
Three other Chinese carriers, China Southern, Hainan Airlines and Xiamen Airlines, already operate the smaller B787-8 Dreamliner. And Xiamen Airlines and Hainan Airlines also expect to take delivery of their first B787-9s later this year.
