Air Costa has added a new Embraer E190 aircraft to its fleet.
The new regional jet has now been deployed at Vijayawada’s Gannavaram Airport and will be used to operate flights to Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Hyderabad.
The 110-seat aircraft complements the airline’s other E190s and 67-seat E170 aircraft. But
Vivek Choudhary, CEO of Air Costa, said he hopes to phase out the smaller aircraft in future.
“I am delighted that the day has come, today we welcome this latest generation aircraft into our rapidly expanding fleet. As we keep hinting our growing plans of replacing existing two E170 with E190 to maintain same type of fleet to serve better for our expansion plans.
“The E190 models are a larger stretch of the E170 models fitted with a wider cabin, larger wing. It can carry up to 110 passengers in single-class high density configuration,” he added.
By the end of 2016, Air Costa plans to operate eight E190 aircraft. The airline has also placed orders for Embraer’s new fuel-efficient model, the E2.
