Air Costa, the regional carrier based in Vijayawada, will start expanding its fleet and route map across India in the coming months.
The airline, which commenced flights in 2013, has received a “no objection certificate” from India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, enabling it to launch routes across India.
And the carrier’s deputy CEO, Vivek Choudhary, was quoted saying recently that Air Costa will now start adding more aircraft to facilitate this expansion.
“We shall… be adding an [Embraer] E190 this month to our fleet. This followed by an addition in February 2016,” Choudhary said.
Currently Air Costa operates 32 daily flights between nine cities: its hubs of Vijayawada and Chennai, plus Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Coimbatore and Hyderabad.
It serves these routes with a fleet of just three aircraft: two 112-seat E190s and one 67-seat E170. But the airline has large orders with Embraer for six more E190s and 50 new ‘E2’ jets, which are expected to be delivered from 2018.
