Rolls-Royce has signed a deal with Air France-KLM to supply engines for the carrier’s new fleet of Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft. The airline has selected Rolls-Royce’s Trent XWB engines, which have been specially developed for the new wide-body aircraft, to power up to 60 A350s, 25 of which are firm orders. The deal marks the first time that the two companies have worked together.
Mark King, Rolls-Royce’s President for Civil Aerospace, said; “This will be the first time we have supplied large engines to Air France-KLM Group and we look forward to building on the positive relationship we have established during the aircraft evaluation process. The Trent XWB test results are already showing it to be the most efficient large aero engine available on the market today.”
