Commencing in mid-December 2015, the new route will operate five times a week direct from Auckland. Tickets are expected to go on sale in May.
The airline will serve the new trans-Pacific route using a re-fitted Boeing 777-200 aircraft, which includes business, premium economy and economy class seats. The twin-aisle jet will also feature Air New Zealand’s ‘SkyCouch‘ concept, which converts rows of three economy class seats into flat beds.
“We are thrilled to open service to Houston,” said Air New Zealand’s vice president of the Americas, Chris Myers.
“This expands our reach into a thriving part of the country and also acts as a great feed to the East Coast, meaning a gateway to New Zealand is now less than three hours away from numerous US cities. We’re also excited about the prospect of bringing New Zealanders to Texas and other southern and eastern states via Houston.”
