Air NZ eases LAX transfers
Air New Zealand passengers transiting through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will soon be offered access to a greater range of facilities.
Following a successful trial, the US customs office has approved a new transit system for the airline’s passengers arriving from Auckland or London. On completion of visa requirements, transiting passengers will receive a token which allows them to access the general terminal area, including the airline’s LAX lounge for eligible passengers, without needing to clear security.
Air New Zealand’s Deputy CEO, Norm Thompson, said the new transit process would make a big difference for passengers.
“This is great news for our customers. They now have the freedom to move around during their transit instead of being confined to the transit lounge while waiting for their onward flight,” Thompson said.
The move comes ahead of Air New Zealand’s relocation from LAX Terminal 2 to the Tom Bradley International Terminal next year. The terminal is in the midst of a US$1.7 billion makeover which will see the addition of new F&B outlets and faster boarding and disembarking systems, plus a brand new Star Alliance lounge.
