Air Serbia off to a flier in 2014

Air Serbia, the national airline of Serbia, has announced significantly improved performance in the first three months of the year.
Total passengers carried increased 6% through the first quarter of the calendar year, rising to 364,924. The growth in passenger numbers has been driven by enhanced connectivity through fleet expansion, new route connections, and a codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways.
Since 2013, the airline has significantly increased carrying capacity across is network, with a 93% rise in available seat kilometres (ASK). This was achieved with the addition of three new airbus aircraft, including two A319s and one A320. Air Serbia also launched new routes to Sofia and Budapest in the first quarter. These two routes bring the current Air Serbia network to 34 Euro-Mediterranean destinations.
With increases capacity and growth in total passenger numbers, Air Serbia is able to report 47% revenue growth January-April.
The chief executive officer of Air Serbia, Dane Kondić, said; “Air Serbia has built a solid foundation in the six months since it was launched and is on track to break-even in 2014.
“The improved passenger numbers and revenue reflects the growing appeal of the airline for leisure and business travel across the Balkan region and beyond.”
