Operated by the carrier’s long-haul unit, AirAsia X, the new service will run four times a week, departing KLIA 2 every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 1800 and arriving at Chongqing’s Jiangbei International Airport at 2220. The return flights then leave the Chinese city at 2355 and arrive back in KL at 0415 the following morning.
All flights will be operated using a 377-seat, two-class Airbus A330-300 aircraft including flat-bed seats in business class.
“The addition of this latest route will enable us to further strengthen our network into China and boost passenger traffic growth as we link AirAsia’s robust network across ASEAN to China,” said Benyamin Ismail, acting CEO of AirAsia X.
“We will continue our strategy of dominating… core markets in North Asia, especially China. This is made possible with the continuous support rendered by China’s airport authorities, regulators and relevant authorities.”
