AirAsia considers Don Mueang move
Thai AirAsia is reported to be considering a move to Bangkok’s Don Mueang airport.
The Thai News Agencyreported the airline’s CEO, Tassapon Bijleveld as saying this week that the airline in the process of weighing up a move away from Suvarnabhumi airport.
Don Mueang, which is currently home to domestic low-cost carrier Nok Air, handled approximately three million passengers in 2011. Prior to the opening of Suvarnabhumi in 2006 however, the north Bangkok hub was catering to up to 38 million passengers per year.
IATA has previously stressed its preference for a single airport policy in Bangkok.
