AirAsia is stepping up its efforts to target business travellers with the launch of a new corporate travel programme.
Under its new “MyCorporate” scheme, AirAsia will offer a series of fare bundles that include ancillary products usually popular with business travellers.
Three bundles have been created: Fare Only, Corporate Lite and Corporate Full Flex. As the name suggests, the Fare Only product is simply an airfare with all add-ons available for a fee. The Corporate Lite bundle includes a complimentary meal, seat selection and dedicated check-in counter, plus the ability for passengers to change their flight without charge up to 24 hours before departure.
Finally the Corporate Full Flex bundle includes a meal, seat selection, 20kg of baggage allowance, a dedicated check-in counter, “XPress” immigration and baggage services, lounge access, priority boarding, travel insurance and full flexibility with unlimited flight changes.
Corporate Full Flex passengers will also be placed on standby for earlier flights on the same day under the airline’s new “GoShow” initiative.
Companies signing up to MyCorporate will have access to an online booking system and reporting tools to keep track of expenses.
“With our extensive network and frequency across the group, we have seen a rise in the number of those travelling for business on AirAsia. With the launch of MyCorporate, we believe we have a programme that serves the needs of both the traveller and the company to further capture our share of this important segment,” said AirAsia’s group CEO, Tony Fernandes.
The launch of MyCorporate marks the latest phase of AirAsia’s development, and another shift away from its original business model of direct-sell, point-to-point leisure travel. In 2014 the low-cost carrier started distributing its fares via the GDS and it also now provides transit services between its long- and short-haul flights.
