AirAsia sees double-digit growth in 2010

AirAsia Group carried 13.1% more passengers in 2010 than it did in 2009, according to the latest results released by the low-cost carrier. The group catered to a total 25.7 million passengers last year, compared to 22.7 million in 2009, while it expanded its capacity 9.2%. This allowed average load factor to increase three percentage points to 78%. The group’s Malaysian operations saw a 12.6% increase in passengers to 16.1 million, with an average load factor of 82%. Thai AirAsia increased its passenger traffic 14.4% to 5.7 million passengers at a load factor of 78%, while in the group’s Indonesian operations saw a 13.3% rise in passengers to 3.9 million, at an average load factor of 77%.
