AirAsia will expand its Chinese operations next year with the launch of a new service connecting Kota Kinabalu with Wuhan.

Commencing on 22 January 2016, the new route will operate daily using a 180-seat, all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft.

Flights will depart Kota Kinabalu at 1855 and arrive in Wuhan at 2310. The return service will then leave at 2355 and arrive back in Kota Kinabalu at 0405.

“We want to continue putting Malaysia at the forefront of connecting ASEAN to other parts of Asia,” said Spencer Lee, AirAsia’s head of commercial. “We… believe that the direct flight between Kota Kinabalu and Wuhan will further spur tourism between the two cities, which brings great advantage to the East Malaysia hub.”

AirAsia now operates 18 direct routes from Kota Kinabalu, now including four services to mainland China: Wuhan, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Guangzhou.
