AirAsia intends to launch flight services to Japan next year, according to Jiji Press, a Bernama report said. Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes said the Japanese market has enormous potential, adding that AirAsia hoped to raise the number of Malaysian tourists to Japan. AirAsia have previously been identified Japan as a potentially lucrative market for its operations, but have been dissuaded by tough visa regulations for Malaysian visitors.
However Bernama has reported that AirAsia is still considering launching flights to locations such as Tokyo, Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka in the future.
