AirAsia unveils QPR plane
AirAsia has unveiled a new aircraft to celebrate its tie-up with English football team, Queen’s Park Rangers.
The Airbus A320 is painted in the club’s blue and white colours, with the traditional QPR hoops appearing on the tail. The aircraft has been named ‘Alan McDonald’, as a tribute to the team’s former captain and assistant manager.
Present at the unveiling of the aircraft were QPR’s CEO Philip Beard, Manager Mark Hughes and players including Park Ji Sung, Jamie Mackie and Djibril Cisse.
“The special aircraft does not only symbolise our energetic relationship with QPR but also further cements our relationship with a team with an amazing history in English football and whose passion, determination and commitment reflects our own hard work and fervour in attaining success,” said AirAsia’s Group Head of Commercial, Kathleen Tan.
QPR is owned by AirAsia’s Group CEO, Tony Fernandes, and the low-cost carrier is now the team’s shirt sponsor for the 2012-13 season.
