AirAsia X, the Malaysian-based long-haul low-cost airline, is launching Kuala Lumpur-Hangzhou, its second long-haul flight. The five weekly flights start from February 4. Last November, the airline launched its first long-haul service to Gold Coast, Australia.
The airline said the new service is part of AirAsia and AirAsia X’s ongoing strategy to create and serve an extended network of cities in mainland China both by its short-haul and long-haul services. AirAsia has also recently announced its new Guangzhou - Kuala Lumpur route.
“The first long-haul route to the Gold Coast has been a huge success, with 50,000 seats sold by mid January valued at US$15 million,” said Azran Osman-Rani, CEO AirAsia X.
“We expect the Hangzhou route to follow the same pattern of success.”
