AirAsia X has launched its inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo.
The new route commenced on Friday 2 October 2015 and will now operate four times a week.
Flights depart Kuala Lumpur International Airport every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2335 and arrive at Sapporo’s New Chitose International Airport at 0810 the next day. The return services then depart every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 0920 and arrive back in KL at 1700.
The route will be served using a 377-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft with business and economy class cabins.
“Japan is one of our core markets in the Asia Pacific region and we are very proud to introduce another unique route connecting Kuala Lumpur directly into northern Japan,” said Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X.
“The healthy load factor of 90% for our inaugural flight and the growing forward bookings we have received gives us confidence that this route will thrive. We are proud to be the connection between both cities and look forward to work together with all relevant parties to draw in connecting passengers from all over Asia, Australia and beyond into Sapporo.”
Sapporo, the largest city on the northern island of Hokkaido, becomes AirAsia X’s third Japanese destination following Tokyo and Osaka.
