Its products and sales will be fully integrated into the alliance on 1 April and to celebrate, airbelin topbonus frequent flyer members will receive double miles on oneworld partner bookings until 15 May 2012.
“Becoming a member of oneworld is one of the most significant departures for airberlin,” said Hartmut Mehdom, CEO of airberlin. “It will strengthen our competitive position considerably, enabling us to offer our customers a truly global network together with our partners who include some of the best and biggest airlines in the world, while enabling us also to tap into all the financial benefits that come from being part of a global alliance”.
In addition, IAG’s new airline Iberia Express has been announced as an affiliate member of oneworld ahead of its first commercial service on Sunday. The airline will operate short and medium-haul flights from its Madrid hub with destinations and schedule to be announced soon.
